Child Developmental Milestone

Is the most significant milestones in the areas of development in children. The influence of growth and its possible deviations are important considerations in the management of children with disability. Developmental assessment that translates behavior into age values requires adjustment for motor dysfunction and for cognitive or other associated disabilities when such deficits are present.

When I was practicing my profession as a Physical Therapist, I encountered patients with different types of childhood disabilities and developmental delays that can be seen in cases of Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and other neurological diseases that greatly affects the normal functioning of a child. It is important for us to know, specially us moms, the normal stages of our child's development:

Gross Motor refers to the movements that involve large muscle groups. These may include walking, kicking, jumping, and climbing stairs.
Newborn - flexor tone(also known as neonatal muscle tone)
4 months - the child can now roll from prone(head and body facing down) to supine(face and body facing up)
5 months - babies can pull to sit
6 months - your baby can now sit with support
7 months - the child can now roll from supine(face and body facing down) to prone(head and body facing down)
8 months - your baby can now sit without support
10 months - your baby can do creeping, cruising and pull to stand
14 months - can now walk with arms in high-guard position(arms spread both sides)
18 months - your child can walk with arms in low-guard position; can walk backward
2 y/o - begins to run; ascend and descend stairs without alternating feet; tandem walk unsteady; starts to use a tricycle
3 y/o - runs well; jumping, squatting; tricycling; mature gait(walking) pattern; ascend and descend with alternating feets
4 y/o - hops
5 y/o - skips; tiptoes; tandem walk steady; kick a ball well; unilateral standing(standing in one foot) for 10 seconds
6 y/o - bicycling; use roller skates

Fine Motor is defined as coordination of small muscle movements which occur in the fingers and dexterity in the hands. The development of these skills allows ones to be able to complete tasks such as writing and drawing.
Newborn - grasp
4 months - midline hand play
7 to 9 months - peekaboo; transfer cube from one hand to other
10 months - pincer grasp(mature opposition of the thumb to index finger)
14 months - holds crayon full length
18 months - holds crayon butt end; raisin dumping; hand dominance emerging(right or left handed)
2 y/o - hand dominance is usually well established
5 y/o - hand dominance expected

2 y/o - can now draw straight line
3 y/o - can draw circle; can do overhand throw
4 y/o - can draw cross; can do underhand throw
4 1/2 y/o - can draw a square/rectangle
5 y/o - can draw triangle
6 y/o - can draw a diamond(horizontally oriented); can write alphabet
7 y/o - can draw a diamond(vertically oriented)
8 y/o - can now draw a full blown cross
9 y/o - can draw a can
10 y/o - can now draw a box

Personal/Social Development
4 months - recognize bottle
7 months - can hold bottle
10 months - can chew with jaw rotation
14 months - can remove garments
18 months - drink from a cup
2 y/o - uses spoon well
3 y/o - toilet-trained
4 y/o - dress and undress with supervision
5 y/o - dress and undress without supervision
6 y/o - can use spoon and fork; tie shoe lace
7 y/o - can now use fork and knife; can do self-grooming like combing hair

Language Development(speech)
Newborn - crying
2 to 3 months - chooing and chuckling
4 months - laughing
7 months - can now say Ma and Da
10 months - say mama and dada(usually first to utter) with meaning; waves bye bye
14 months - 1 word
18 months - points to body parts
2 y/o - 2 word phrase
3 y/o - 3 word sentence; identify colors
4 y/o - can repeat 4 digit-numbers

These developmental milestones are very helpful for us parents in determining our children's growth and development. Observe your child and be aware!

Autism Alert

What is Autism?
Autism is a complicated, lifelong neurodevelopmental disability that affects the way a person communicates and relates to people around him. It is defined by the presence of impairments affecting social interaction, communication, and imagination. All over the world, it affects one in every 500.

Symptoms
Most of the parents' concerns center on delayed speech and language development and this should be taken seriously. Other red flags in 18-to-24-month-olds include poor eye contact, lack of response to name or to social "comments," difficulty understanding words, being "in a world of their own," repetitive behaviors, and unusual use of objects associated with language delay and other social features.

Steps to take
Once diagnosis is confirmed, consider a focused and individualized early intervention program that must be broad enough to address the full range of impairments. Parents need counseling and support. They must be given information about appropriate programs, parent support groups and other community support systems. There is no one best method for teaching children with autism. However, it is the involvement of parents, teachers/therapist and advocates of the child that is critical.

The outcome
The future outcome for a child with autism is closely linked to his or her verbal abilities, intelligence, family support and educational and behavioral programs. Depending on IQ and language abilities, an individual wit autism should be able to live independently or thrive in a supported or interdependent living environment and can be expected to have a typical lifespan. Early identification and good educational programs have significantly improved the future for children with autistic spectrum disorders. Intensive parent participation, however plays a critical factor in the outcome.

Beutiful Skin For Life!

Sagging, wrinkled skin is not the unavoidable result of growing older. It's a disease, and you can fight it. You can look your best, feel your best, and enjoy beautiful skin and optimum health every day of your life, provided you start right now. And you don't need invasive, expensive plastic surgery to do it.

Of course, beautiful skin on the outside begins with good health on the inside. Think about it: have you ever seen an unhealthy person with a flawless complexion and a radiant glow? Of course not. Beautiful skin doesn't come in a bottle. Although your skin may appreciate the care and attention you lavish on it on from the outside - creams, gels, and gentle soaps - it will suffer dearly from the damage you cause on the inside if you don't get enough sleep, smoke, drink too much alcohol, don't eat properly, and don't take essential vitamins, including A, C and E.

So just what is responsible for transforming that baby smooth skin into the crinkles of middle age? Some of the answers lie in the nature of skin itself. Our skin works incredibly hard for us, but we tend not to work hard for it. In fact, we tend to take it for granted. We shouldn't. The skin is an organ, just like our hearts or our livers. like any vital organ, it performs a long list of life-sustaining tasks. It regulates body temperature. It's the body's sensor, registering pressure, temperature, and pain. It's a barrier against the elements and a shield against bacteria, viruses and other external threats to our health. It's also the body's mirror: When we're chronically fatigued, poorly nourished, or physically and emotionally stressed, our skin reacts. Premature aging is one consequence of failing to give our skin the care and attention it needs.

So, what are you waiting for? Keep up yourself, go to Spa....and relax. Take the best treat for you and enjoy life!

Mommy Moments - Love Letter

Love Letter From My Husband

This is the "only" love letter I received from my husband. He attached this letter to the roses he gave to me last year of February 14, 2008 because we had a misunderstanding that took us one(1) long week to reconcile . My husband is not the type of man that can show his love in public...in short he is not showy. He is very blunt in expressing his feelings. It is so sad, but this is the truth about him. Well, I can't never blame him for being insensitive. I love him more than I do and I will love him until the end of time. Cheers!

A Valentine Card from my loving daughter, Maxine. It was so heart-warming when my child gave this to me and when she said "Mommy this is for you, Happy Valentine's Day" and "I love You". I just wanted to cry because of the happiness I felt inside me was overwhelming. This is the best and most fantastic gift for me....from my sweet and beautiful daughter, Maxine.

Plan For My New House

We are now living in our new house in Pasig City. House extension is my big plan in the near future. I am really excited and very eager for this major expansion because I want to have more space in my "dwelling" particularly in the kitchen area. Cooking is my hobby and I considered it as one of my leisure in life. You know, if you are a wife and a mother, you will be engage in this kind of activity, no matter what hinders you or how busy you are in your career, you will make a way to make it happen. Aside from the kitchen area I would love to extend the bedroom area of my kids so they would have more breathing place to play and study.

Toy Hunt: Teddy Bear

These teddy bears were given by my suitors back when I was still single....Lol!(I don't know what will my husband think about this when he sees these teddy bears posted in my blog, he did not gave me any kind of stuff toy when he was courting me). Weekend Get Away

My family and I had spent the weekend in Kalipayan Resort, Dasmarinas Cavite. It was an affordable outing since I had paid 1,180 pesos($25) only, which already includes entrance and cottage fees. It was so priceless seeing my kids so happy as they can be. Outing like this is one of my dreams when I was a child. I grew up without the luxury of pleasure trips. That's why I want my children to experience the treat of life as much as possible.

The happiness I saw in my children's eyes is irreplaceable, that I can value for a lifetime, an every mother's aspiration for their wonderful chikitings(children).

Preggy Days

mommy momentsMOMMY MOMENTS: PREGGY DAYS

This picture was taken when I was pregnant with my daughter Maxine.

These pictures were taken when I was pregnant with our last baby, Daniel Roldz.
This was taken together with my "former laptop"...Lol!

This picture was taken at the beach in San Juan, Batangas with my mom, my daughter(Maxine) and my son at the back(Maki).

This picture was taken 24 days before my delivery, in our apartment in Mandaluyong.

This picture was taken 15 days before my delivery. We fetched my husband's parents in the Airport.(from left the right: mother in law, my daughter, my husband, me and father in law).

This picture was taken at Makati Medical Center, one hour before my delivery. I was already on a labor and preparing for my baby to come out.

My pregnancy with my daughter went very well but my pregnancy with my youngest son was quite tough. I thought I'll be having a delivery through ceasarian because his umbilical cord was being entangled to his neck. But, thanks God! I was able to gave birth normally and most of all safely.

Enjoy!

Paranormal Phenomena

What is Paranormal?
Paranormal is a general term that describes unusual experiences that lack a scientific explanation, or phenomena alleged to be outside of science's current ability to explain or measure. Paranormal field is a mysterious one, full of things like the disembodied spirit (ghost) which decides to communicate with, and haunt the living, the incredible power of the human mind and will, amazing lights (ghost lights) that appear in the middle of no where, and other things that science can not explain. Paranormal Phenomena is also known as Supernatural Phenomena.

Do you believe in paranormal?
I was a skeptic at first about paranormal but when my brother died I became a believer. I was the one who predicted of his incoming death but I never had the chance to tell to anybody. I was scared that time, I was like a psychic. I was seeing things that will going to happen in the future. The death of my brother had caused me many ghostly sightings of him even in my dreams. But now, I know that he is at peace and he had accepted his untimely death. I LOVE YOU KUYA!

I am very much interested in Paranormal. If I only have the chance to study this field(sigh)...I probably would. This is one of my dreams...to be a paranormal investigator.

How about you? Do you want to be a paranormal investigator too?

My Favorite TV Shows?

MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS

Ghost Hunters(TAPS) and Ghost Hunters International?

Ghost Hunters also known as TAPS(The Atlantic Paranormal Society) is a group of paramormal investigators from the United States of America. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, plumbers are the founders of the The Atlantic Paranormal Society. TAPS is a group of fairly ordinary people — office managers, factory workers, teachers and even psychic-hotline gurus — moonlighting to understand seemingly unexplainable disturbances. They are a group of real-life paranormal researchers as they investigate hauntings throughout America.

Ghost Hunters International is a group of paranormal investigators searching for bizarre mysteries around the world including England, Scotland, Peru, Singapore, Sweden, Philippines and many others. It is a team of paranormal investigators who use their principles of scientific techniques, to deal with some of the most legendary haunted spots around the world. Each week the crew travels to the far corners of the globe, searching for answers to freaky unearthly mysteries.

These shows can only find in SciFi Channel. Unfortunately in the Philippines, we don't have a local cable provider for this channel so I'm just spending my time watching these programs through You Tube.

I am very much interested in paranormal studies but I know I cannot be a paranormal investigator in real life. Watching every single episodes of Ghost Hunters International(GHI) and Ghost Hunters(TAPS) online is giving me the opportunity to be in their position.

Common watch it!

Flowers on Valentine's Day

When we think of Valentine's Day, we often think of red roses, candy in heart- shaped boxes, mushy valentines, and winged cherubs flying about shooting starry-eyed lovers with arrows. Valentine's Day or also known as Saint's Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or any kinds of gifts. It is the celebration of HEARTS.

For WOMEN, nothing says it is Valentine’s Day better than red roses. The meaning of Valentine’s Day flowers with red roses is love. It is an ideal, but unoriginal, way of telling her that you love her without saying a word. You have to have the mindset of what type of flower arrangement, including color and type of flower, would personalize her best. When choosing flowers for this lover’s holiday, do keep in mind the type of person that you are buying for. Roses come in a variety of colors and meanings. While the red rose is all for love, the yellow has a meaning of friendship and the pink is all about happiness.

Valentine’s Day is by far the most romantic of the holidays. While red roses are a favorite of this holiday, they also have a strong meaning of passion. That is what these fragrant gifts should convey for the meaning of Valentine’s Day flowers. Giving flowers is a token of your affection to the one that you love. Women are not the only recipients on this holiday. For MEN, love to be in this role too. The meaning of Valentine’s Day flowers for the man in your life is a symbol of love and the arrangements should be kept simple and masculine.

The meaning of Valentine’s Day flowers can be what ever you would like. The person receiving them will get an overwhelming feeling of appreciation that you thought of them on this day. No matter what type of flower you give, one thing is for sure, the person will love the thought behind this gift that speaks ever so loudly to the heart without ever saying a word.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!

Requirements for Bank Housing Loan

Continuation.....

Acquiring a property either it be a condominium or house and lot through Bank Financing, you must understand that it is a long and complex process. In order to qualify and work out your loan, first you need to assess your gross monthly income. If you are planning to pay the monthly amortization for 15 years, let's say the monthly amortization is 20,000, then you are qualified for the loan.
